Meade 209004 Infinity

The Meade Instruments Infinity 80mm Altazimuth Refractor Telescope is a great option for budding astronomers and other enthusiasts just getting started in the world of astronomy. It accurately captures both terrestrial and celestial bodies in clear detail.

Product Features

For clear observation of celestial bodies, the telescope is mounted upon a high precision, aluminium Altazimuth tripod mount and the 80 mm wide aperture of the telescope allows the entry of light into the device for clear imaging. The alt-azimuth mount upon which the telescope is mounted has slow-motion controls as well as an altitude lock mechanism for easier observation and tracking of objects. This makes the Meade infinity 80mm altazimuth refractor telescope ideal for every major celestial event like shooting stars, comets, meteor showers, or simply for observing the Moon, planets, and any other celestial bodies of interest.

Also included in the shipped product package is an astronomy DVD containing more than 10,000 different celestial objects which the user can use to observe and identify major celestial objects.

This telescope comes with three separate eyepieces for different levels of magnification depending on the object being viewed. Thus, the package has low, medium and high magnification lenses with 26mm, 9 mm and 6.3 mm focal lengths respectively. The 26 mm eyepiece has a magnification of 15x, the 9mm eyepiece has a 44x magnification while the 6.3mm eyepiece gives a magnification of 63.5x.

Added to this is the presence of a 2x Barlow lens which serves in doubling the active magnification power of each one of the eyepieces, thereby increasing the number of options of objects that can be observed with this telescope.

There is a Red dot finder feature on the telescope which basically helps to focus the scope on the object of interest.

Another key feature incorporated into this product is the 90° erect-image prism. The purpose of this prism is to ensure the images are upright when viewed through the lenses. Hence, day time viewing of terrestrial objects is possible with this device.

To prevent the ambient moisture from condensing in the form of dew on the lens of the telescope, a dew shield is integrated into the design of the device.  This telescope has a compact design which makes it very portable. It is suitable for use both in the daytime and night time. Getting the complete telescope unit set up is a straight forward process because it is easy to assemble right out of the box. Operating the telescope is also very easy to do.
